Since this group is moderated, I trust that you can easily spot a spam, and disallow it.
As for viruses, assuming the kind that sends off itself, I don't remember encountering them for a long, long time. I believe the reason is that mail servers are now set up to filter them. Besides, I believe you can also easily identify them.
At any rate, how about asking other members for their thoughts on this?
