paccassosu.m. Bhagavaa etadavoca-
Thus I have heard- Once the Fortunate One was staying at Savatthi in the
Anathapindika Jeta Grove. Indeed, there the Buddha addressed the monks:
"Bhikkhus". "Venerable Sir", those bhikkhus answered. The Buddha said
this:
"Naaha.m, bhikkhave, a~n~na.m ekaruupampi samanupassaami ya.m eva.m
purisassa citta.m pariyaadaaya ti.t.thati yathayida.m, bhikkhave,
itthiruupa.m.
not I say/monks,/other/a visible object/I contemplate, see/because of
which/that/man/[citta.m pariyaadaaya ti.t.thati : persistently overwhelm
the mind]/just as, in whatever way/monks, /womanform.
"I do not say, bhikkhus, there is any other sight that I understand as
so persistently overwhelming a man's mind as the sight of a woman.
Itthiruupa.m, bhikkhave, purisassa citta.m pariyaadaaya ti.t.thatii"ti.
womanform, /monks/man/[citta/excessively/abides] persistently overwhelms
the mind
The sight of a woman, bhikkhus, persistently overwhelms a man's mind."
