Blund-Ketill svarar: "Eigi skulum vér gjafar að biðja.

Have Odd and Angrim make worth for your hand and thereupon down (?) I want to give you gifts."

Þórir kveðst eigi hey til hafa að selja "enda vil eg eigi selja."
Thorir said for himself not to have hay to sell "although I didn't want to sell."

Þá gengur Blund-Ketill út og þeir félagar og sveinninn með þeim.
Then Blund-Ketill goes out and they, father and son and the boys, with them.

Þá tekur Blund-Ketill til orða: "Hvort er heldur að fóstri þinn hefir engi hey til sölu eða vill hann eigi selja?"
Then Blund-Ketill begins to speak: "Is it rather that your foster-relative doesn't have hay to sell or (that) he doesn't want to sell?"

Sveinninn svarar: "Hefir hann víst ef hann vill."
The boy answers: "He certainly has if he wants (to sell)."

Blund-Ketill mælti: "Fylgdu oss þangað til sem heyin eru."
Blund-Ketill said: "Lead us there to where the hay is (plural in OI)."

Hann gerir svo.
He does so.

Nú gerir Blund-Ketill til fjár Þóris og hugðist svo að, þó að algjafta væri til alþingis, að þó mundi af ganga fimm stakkar.
No Blund-Ketill makes preparations for Thoris' (?) journey and thought thus, although stall-fed (animals) would be at the assembly, yet five bales of hay are left as surplus.

Og eftir þetta ganga þeir inn.
And after this they go inside.

Blund-Ketill mælti: "Svo hyggst mér um heykost þinn að góður fengur mun af ganga þó að fé þínu öllu sé inni gefið til alþingis og vil eg það kaupa."
Blund-Ketill said: "So it seems to me concerning your stores of hay that a good supply will be left as surplus (Z. ganga 15) although all your animals would be fed inside (Z. gefa 4) at the Thing, and I want to buy that."

Þórir svarar: "Hvað skal eg þá hafa annan vetur ef þá er slíkur vetur eða verri?"
Thorir answers: "Shall I then have another year if then is such a winter or worse?"

Blund-Ketill svarar: "Gera mun eg þér þann kost að fá þér jafnmikinn kost í heyjum í sumar og þó að engu verri og færa í garða þína."
Blund-Ketill answers: "I will give you that choice that you get an equally large match of hay in summer and although nothing worse and convey it to your yard."

Þórir svarar: "Ef þér hafið nú yður eigi heybjörg hvað munuð þér þá heldur hafa í sumar?
Thorir answers: "If you don't now have stores of hay, what would you then rather have in summer?

En veit eg að er sá ríkismunur okkar að þú munt taka mega hey af mér ef þú vilt."
And I know that ir is such our difference-in-wealth (?) that you would be able to take hay from me if you wanted."

Blund-Ketill svarar: "Eigi er þann veg upp að taka.
Blund-Ketill answers: "That way is not to (be) chose(n).

Það veistu að silfur gengur í allar skuldir hér á landi og gef eg þér það við."
Your know that, that silver goes to all debts (legal for all debts, public and private?) here in Iceland, and I give you that against (the purchase of some hay?).     (note sure if this applies: Z. skuld 1 - ganga í skuld við e-n = to become one’s debtor)

Þórir svarar: "Eigi vil eg silfur þitt."
Thorir answers: "I don't want your silver."

"Þá taktu þvílíka vöru sem þeir gera til handa þér, Oddur og Arngrímur."
"Then take such-like would be as they deserve your hand (?), Oddr and Arngrimr."

"Fátt er hér verkmanna," segir Þórir, "en eg nenni lítt ferðum og vil eg eigi vasast í slíku."
"Few workers are here," says Thorir, "but I am little inclined (towards) journeys and I don't want to be entangled in such."

Blund-Ketill svarar: "Þá skal eg láta færa þér heim."
Blund-Ketill answers: "Then I shall have them conveyed to your home (or "to you at home"?).

Þórir mælti: "Eigi hefi eg húsakost til þess að örvænt sé að eigi spillist."
Thorir said: "I don't have lodgings for that, that despair would be that not damaged (??)"
