Now Blund-Ketil makes allowance for Þóri’s animals, and it
seems to him that even if they were stall-fed until the
Alþing, nevertheless five stacks of hay would be left over.

See CV, <göra> C.V, 'to make allowance for', with example
<gera fóðr til fjár> 'to make an arbitrary allowance for'.
Apparently the idea is that he mentally sets aside hay for
the animals to see how much remains.

I think that <ok þó at engu> splits as <(ok þó) (at engu)>.
Baetke notes that <ok þó> can be 'and indeed', which fits
very well here. Anthony Faulkes’ glossary to _Stories from
Sagas of Kings_, another publication of the Viking Society
for Northern Research, has <í engu> 'in no way', and it
seems clear from the context that <at engu> here has a
similar meaning, 'in no way, in no respect, not at all'.

Baetke has <taka (e-t) upp e-n veg> 'to take/understand
(something) in a particular way', from which I infer that
<taka e-t upp> can be 'to understand something (in a
particular way)'. B-K seems to be saying that Þ has
misunderstood his words, implying that he has no intention
of simply taking the hay.

debts'. It appears to be an extension of <ganga í> 'to take
part in'.
