"A warrior will arise in the country. Folk will see many heads on the ground. Now grows the swelling thump of blue spikes in the hills. Blood-dew will come on the arm[s]/leg[s] of some men."

`herði-Þundr högg-orma' "warrior" (literally "hardening/intensifying-Odin of hewing-serpents").

`borg heila' "head" (literally "(fortified) town of brain(s)").

`beysti-sullr blárra brodda' "clamour of blue spikes" (swelling thumping/thrashing noise of blue spikes, tips of weapons; cf. `beysta' "to beat, thresh").

`dögg sveita' "dew of blood" = "blood". Another tautological kenning like `beð-hlíð bauga' "bed-shield of rings" = "shield" in the previous bit of verse.
