Greetings,

I have been away for quite some time now, still trying to figure out
everything :)

I was wondering, is there one of the two that is easier learning that the
other, Old Norse or Old Icelandic?
Or are they equally hard :) I'm danish of origin, so I see a lot of the
similarities...

Thank you much,

Jakob

been in this position might recommend online material that they found to be
fairly suitable for transition into from Norse Course. I thought about
trying to learn via the study of translations, with the obvious impediment
thereto that a particular forms of a word would be learned individually
rather than knowing its forms generally and their underlying grammatical
principles.

Old Norse Online

information!) http://www.utexas.edu/cola/depts/lrc/eieol/norol-TC-X.html

Old Icelandic Course Materials
(A couple of texts. Click on words to bring up English definitions. Not as
much detail as the above site, but still lots of useful grammatical points
in the notes.) http://teaching.arts.usyd.edu.au/english/2000/icel/

When you feel ready, I think reading something with the help of a
translation (and dictionaries) is a great idea. You can always post
grammatical questions here. Besides online resources, The Viking Society
for Northern Research [ http://www.shef.ac.uk/viking- society/ ] have a
number of printed texts for sale, some with parallel translations, some with
vocabularies and notes--some with both.

Good luck!
