*k^red-dHeh1-, with its double full grade and the second member
conjugated like a free-standing verb (at least in Sanskrit) looks like
a univerbated phrase. Consequently, the first member can well be an
inflected case form rather than the compositional form of a root noun.
The _noun_ <s'raddHá:> is possibly a nomen actionis in *-ah2,
*k^red-dH(h1)-áh2. It's found only in Indo-Iranian, while the
distribution of the verb guarantees its PIE status.

This looks like a real compound, Av. mazda: < *mn.s-dHéh1- 'thinker'
(the corresponding phrase would be *menos dHidHeh1ti 'fixes the mind [on
sth]'). Skt. medHá: 'wisdom, intelligence' may be the corresponding
abstract noun, perhaps the collective (*mns.dH(h1)ah2) of the adjective
*mns.dH(h1)-o- 'characterising a thinker'.
