Aleramo < *alTa-hraBnaz or *aTala-hraBnaz is tempting, since name Aleardo was analyzed as *Ala-harTu- or *aTala-harTu- , and name Beltramo < *berxta-hraBnaz.
"All Raven", or "Noble Raven", or "Old Raven".----- Mensagem original ----

Riccomanno is probably the Italian rendition of something like Reichmann, in mhd. I wasn't aware that it is documented in France in the 9th century; txs for the input.

That derivation of <Amerigo> from *haima-ri:kjaz is
standard.
<Aleramo> is from some Gmc. name in *-hraBnaz, but it's not
clear whether the first element was *aþala-, *ala-, *alda-,
or a conflation of more than one of these.
I've seen a suggestion that <Gugliarello> is from <guglia>
'needle; spire; pinnacle'.
<Riccomanno> is Gmc., from *ri:kja-mannz; as <Rihman> it's
found in France by 835. Quite possibly it was reinforced by
the use of the 'nome augurale' <Ricco>, though.
