1) *H2ep- `water, river' > Alb. <amë> `water, river', pl. <emna>, from
suffixed form *H2ep-no-; amull `backwater' probably from further
suffixed form *H2ep-no-lo; shtamë/shtambë `potbellied clay water' <
*StH-ap-no; <mashtr-apë> `tankcard' < *ambhi-ag's-tro H2ep. To my
view it is closely related to *H1op- `back, again, backward', which
thematic form *H1op-o have yielded Alb. <hap> `open', <prapë> `again',
<prapa> `backward' (cf. Lat. amnis `id.' < *ab-nis).
2) *leubh- `to care, desire; love' > Alb. lumë/lum `happy, blessed,
lucky' < *lummo<*lum-no < *lubh-no (cf.); abstract noun <lum-
ni> `blessing, happiness, luck';
3) *nepo:t-`nephew' > nip, but also mesë < mpo:t-ya: <n(e)po:t-ya
4) *H3ep- to work' > ama `give it to me' < *op-ma identical with <jep-
ma> id.'.
5) *kap- `to grasp' > Alb. <kam> 'I have' < *kamm<*kap-mi (cf. Gmc <haf-
>); *kap-o > kap 'to hold, catch' as thematic verb. Lengthened o-grade
form thematic verb *ko:p-o > Alb. Gheg <kep>, Tosk <qep> `sew, tailor'
(cf. OE <be-ho:f>, Gr. ko:pe: `oar, handle').
