To clarify the matter completely: it seems there were two variant
syllabifications of the 'Jesus' word: /isusU/ ~ /jIsusU/
and /ijIsusU/ (the latter being an attempt to conscientiuosly reflect
the eduacted Greek pronunciation [i.i.sus]?), whence variant
spellings: <isusU> (<i-> /i-/) ~ <isusU> (<iz^e-> /jI-/) ~ <ii->
(<i><iz^e>- /ijI-/).
