There is no suffix -phanos. stephanos is from *stebh- (perhaps the
PIE root *stebh- ~ *stemb- ~ *stab-).

Stephanos, like kolaphos, was borrowed early with Latin /p(h)/, not
/f/. Cf. Spa. Estéban, Cat. Esteve, Fr. Étienne.
