Unfortunately, neither PIE *h2ew-en- (< *h2eu- 'away'), nor *wenH-
'desire' (or whatever lies behind Go. <winja>), nor PIE *h2wes- can
account for Lithuanian <vietà> (and Proto-Slavic *vitati '1. dwell 2.
welcome').
