Whyever not? If you're going to use a foreign form pour le chic,
there's no reason you shouldn't use the form current in Spanish,
Portuguese, German, and Polish (at least) rather than the Italian one.
Indeed, Mediaeval Latin had "galeria", so it's the double-l form
in Italian, French, and English that's the mysterious case.
