Dear Jim,
Yes, they are roman, no Burmese as far as I can tell.
You'll have to judge for yourself whether they are different... I am
told the tipitaka.org texts are pre-sixth council, but I'm sure you know
more about this than I.
I've uploaded the entire set of texts to my website in case anyone wants
the collection:

I'll try to make a unicode version some time... not sure how difficult
that would be.
