Dear Phra Yuttadhammo,

<< You'll have to judge for yourself whether they are different... I
am told the tipitaka.org texts are pre-sixth council, but I'm sure you
know more about this than I. >>

I don't know much myself. I use both CSCD 3 and CST4 for the Burmese
version but have never fully understood which source texts these are
based on. I haven't seen any explanation other than that they are
based on the Cha.t.thasa"ngaayana. I know that Vipassanaa Research
Institute (VRI) has published in print (in Devanagari?) the Tipitaka
with its commentaries and subcommenataries. So I would assume that the
source of these texts on the CSCD, CST4, and on the tipitaka.org
website is the VRI printed publications. But then what is the source
for the VRI printed editions? The Burmese printed edition of the late
50s?

For printed-paper editions of the Tipitaka, I have most of the volumes
published by PTS and the Devanagari script set (less 1) edited by J.
Kashyap and published in India in the late 50s and early 60s. It is
based mainly on the Burmese printed edition.

<< I've uploaded the entire set of texts to my website in case anyone
wants the collection:  >>

Thank-you. I will take a look, download a file, and see for myself.

Best wishes, Jim
