Dhammapadaṃ, 1. Yamakavaggo (The Pairs), Verse 19

bahumpi ce saṃhita bhāsamāno | na takkaro hoti naro pamatto ||
gopova gāvo gaṇayaṃ paresaṃ | na bhāgavā sāmaññassa hoti || 19 ||

19. Although reciting a large number of scriptural texts,
         if being careless he does not act accordiingly,
like a cowherd counting the cows of others, he has no share
         in the ascetic's life.
