Thank you for your reply. You're one of those 'kind
persons' I mentioned. ^^
I have the same idea as yours. It's just the missing
'-an' that makes me confused and uncertain. I think
you might be right, they are Buddhist Hybrid Sanskrit
and might not stict to the rules of classic sanskrit.

Hi Tzungkuen,
I saw that you asked Ole, but I thought I'd give it a
try in case he isn't on the group today.
The -an ending makes it look like a normal imperfect
form, 3rd person , plural, active. "They approached".
There's no augment -a- between the prefixes and the
root, which is puzzling, but this is Buddhist Hybrid
Sanskrit and perhaps the author was trying to retain a
Pali (corresponding to Pali upasa.mkami.msu) I suppose
it could be an unaugmented aorist as well, since that
could use the same -an ending. In any event: 'they
approached', a single, completed action in the past.
