yes, in fact, the word Hindu is a blanket derogatory term used by the
invading Muslim army. It can actually refers to Buddhists (in India)
too! The word is latter used by the British colonisers to refer to the
mimish-mash of Indian beliefs.

Actually, it's Persian - so "Hindu" is a Muslim word!

Persian h often corresponds to Indian s, so "hind" so "sindh", "ahura"
to "asura" etc.
