I like to think it is the latter, with 'hoti' implied.

'kamma.m' is in the accusative case.


me karontassa = of mine, of whom is doing [normal reading]
me karontassa = I, who is doing [genitive absolute]

I think it is genitive absolute. Hence,


kamma.m me karontassa kaayo kilanto
Since I was doing the work, the body is tired.
