Dear Rett, Stephen, Nina, Alan and friends,

thanks. I am not so much into Sanskrit now, but have a small
collection of books in Singapore. I should have seen Coulson's
Sanskrit before, but do not own a copy.

I just want to point out that in Pali there are still 7 types of
Tappurisa, but the nominative case is left out. I think the
nominative case is entirely replaced by Kammadhaaraya.

metta,
Yong Peng.

For instance his list of determinative compounds (on page 87) runs
through all seven possible case relationships between the two
elements, in both noun and adjective forms:

1 [nominative] black:bird new:found, ice:cold
2 [accusative] door-stop man-eating
3 [instrumental] sword-fight hand-written
4 [dative] dining-room accident-prone
5 [ablative] book-learning trouble-free
6 [genitive] status-symbol class-conscious
7 [locative] side-door home-made
