Just a comment on "tayome" - here as "It comes to me that (trans:
"me") there are three (trans:"tayo") ... " like an epiphany... - I am
aware the usual translation is something like "There are three, I
say," but of course it changes the grammar to do so.
"Tayome, bhikkhave, dhammaa. katame tayo? kaayaduccarita.m,
vaciiduccarita.m, manoduccarita.m. ime kho, bhikkhave, tayo dhammaa.
/three /to me /o Bhikkhus /dhammas /which /three /physical impropriety
/verbal impropriety /mental impropriety /these /indeed /o Bhikkhus
/three dhammas /
It comes to me, o Bhikkhus, that there are three dhammas. Which
three? Physical impropriety, verbal impropriety, mental impropriety.
Verily, o Bhikkhus, there are these three dhammas.
imesa.m kho, bhikkhave, ti.n.na.m dhammaana.m pahaanaaya tayo dhammaa
bhaavetabbaa.
/of these /indeed /o Bhikkhus /three /dhammas /for abandoning /three
/dhammas /should be developed /
Verily, o Bhikkhus, for the abandoning of these three dhammas, three
dhammas should be developed.
