welcome any help.

Vigdís svarar á þá leið hans máli: "Ekki dylst eg við skuldleika okkra.
Þykir mér og þann

Vigdis answers his speech in this way, "I do not refuse to acknowledge our
relationship. (It) seems to me also thus

veg aðeins verk þetta er þú hefir unnið að eg kalla þig ekki að verra dreng.
En þó sýnist

alone? this work which you have performed that I call you not a worse bold
man. But still (it) seems to me

so, that those men will hazard both themselves and their wealth when you get
help as important men

garpmenni

as here will give (cause for?) regret. But Thord, my husband, " says she,
"is not of very bold men

mikið en úrráð vor kvenna verða jafnan með lítilli forsjá ef nokkurs þarf
við. En þó nenni

and help of our women become always with little foresight if someone stands
in need of (it). But still I am not at all (alls?) inclined

eg eigi með öllu að víkjast undan við þig alls þú hefir þó hér til nokkurrar
ásjá ætlað."

withal to refuse you; you still have expectation of some help here."

Eftir það leiðir Vigdís hann í útibúr eitt og biður hann þar bíða sín. Setur
hún þar lás fyrir.

After that Vigdis leads him to a certain outbuilding and asks him to wait
for her there. She sets a bolt there before (the door).

Afterwards she went to Thord and spoke, "A man has come here for night
lodging, that one who is called Thorolf

heitir en hann er skyldur mér nokkuð. Þættist hann þurfa hér lengri dvöl ef
þú vildir að svo væri."

and he is somewhat related to me. (It) would seem to him to need to dwell
longer here if you wish that it were so."

Þórði kvaðst ekki vera um mannasetur, bað hann hvílast þar um daginn eftir
ef honum

Thord said of himself not to be (in favor) about (Thorolf) staying on the
place, bade him rest there during the next day if he

væri ekki á höndum en verða í brottu sem skjótast ellegar.

had nothing in hand (Z) but be away as quickly as possible otherwise.

Vigdís svarar: "Veitt hefi eg honum áður gisting og mun eg þau orð eigi
aftur taka þótt hann eigi sér eigi jafna vini alla."

Vigdis answers, "I have given him night lodging before (already?) and I will
not take back those words although he does not have all equal friends??."

Eftir það sagði hún Þórði vígið Halls og svo það að Þórólfur hafði vegið
hann, er þá var þar kominn.

After that she told Thord of Hall's slaying also it that Thorolf, who had
then come there, had slain him,

Þórður varð styggur við þetta, kvaðst það víst vita að Ingjaldur mundi mikið
fé taka af

Thord became displeased with that, said of himself to know for certain that
Ingjald would deprive him of much wealth

for this sheltering which now was given him "when here doors have been
locked behind

this man."

Vigdis answers, "Ingjald shall not deprive you of money for one night's
shelter because he shall be here all winter."

Þórður mælti: "Þann veg máttu mér mest upp tefla og að móti er það mínu
skapi að slíkur óhappamaður sé hér."

Thord spoke, "Thus most of what I have (Z) might be deprived of me and in
return it is in my mind that such a miscreant be here."

En þó var Þórólfur þar um veturinn.

But still Thorolf was there during the winter.

Þetta spurði Ingjaldur er eftir bróður sinn átti að mæla. Hann býr ferð sína
í Dali inn að

Ingjald learned this since he was obliged to take up the prosecution for his
brother. He prepares for his journey into the Dale

áliðnum vetri, setti fram ferju er hann átti. Þeir voru tólf saman. Þeir

twelve together. They sail from the west

on a north west wind ?? and land in Salmon River mouth during the evening,
draw up the ferry and go to Goddastead

um kveldið og koma ekki á óvart. Er þar tekið vel við þeim.
