There is indeed a word <skuldalið> 'household, family';
there is also <skuldahjón> (or <skuldahjún>). (By itself
<lið> can also mean 'family, household', though I've more
often seen it used in the senses 'people, a host' and
'troops'. <Hjón> ~ <hjún> is 'a member of a household', and
the plural <hjóna> is 'husband and wife'.)

<Ætt> seems to refer primarily to family in the sense of a
lineage, a kindred, one's ancestry. <Skuldalið> is probably
a better choice if the desired sense is closer to
'household'.
