The infinitive is 'lítask' (Norse Course spelling), or lítast (modern
spelling). In the present tense 3rd person singular this becomes
'lízk' (Norse Course spelling) = lízt (Zoega spelling) = líst (modern
spelling).
-r (3rd person singular indicative) + sk (middle voice ending) --> sk
t + s --> z (pronounced [ts]), which became s [s] in Modern Icelandic
líta "to look"
lítask "to seem"
e-m lístask "it seems to someone", "someone thinks"
