Thanks, I have received all replies. I'm not sure but "Thingmen" sounds quite gender specific and I am looking for a term that rather focuses on the warlike aspect. I was looking to find more information on the term vikinge-lag, which is a bit vague to me at the moment but I believe the Jomsvikings were such a group as this. I also have,

Fylking
Herlid
Hrafn-Faedir
Ofridr Bond

Not sure if all of these terms would be correct to use or would/could be useful to desribe such a group. Hopefully I am at least on the right track.

I will say this Victor, you ask some interesting questions  in fact in the last piece of the Translation We
were doing there were a band of men whom Hrafnkell took to the "Thing" the Council Meeting Place, or place of Assembly well they were called Hrafnkells "Thingmen" and no doubt they would have been
a choice group of men suited to bear Arms.
I have replied to your other question but I do not think it has been approved yet I sent it out a couple hours ago

Subject: [norse_course] group, company, warband

Please excuse if you have seen this question before but I am trying to find some help with finding a suitable old norse term to describe a group or company of people. Perhaps something like a warband that might have existed during the viking ages. Any help or suggestions on this would be much appreciated.
