I was taught in German class back in the day
that the German article-with-proper-names
is roughly equivalent to the Icelandic
pronoun-with-proper-names, thus:
Der Klaus ~ Hann Klás
Die Eva ~ Hún Eva
I think there was an example of the latter
somewhere in Auðun's story. It doesn't seem
to be have been used in quite the same way
back then, though.
