My machine is not adapted to the Icelandic alphabet
with its accents, etc, so will you please make allowances for their
omission ?
After Hrafnkell has been declared an outlaw at the
Thing, his opponent, Samr says:
'Bethit thykki mer Hrafnkell hafa sneypu, er lengi
mun uppi vera, thessi hans sneypa, ok er thetta vith mikla femuni'
Here's my effort at translation:
'I think Hrafnkell has suffered a humiliation and
this humiliation of his will last a long time, and that is with much
wealth.'
The first two clauses may be translated
nwrongly, but at least they have some meaning, but the last clause is tantamount
to gibberish. Any chanceof enlightenment?
Cheers
