Hi everyone. I'm new to this list and this course and
stuff. So I'll just introduce myself quickly. I'm a
writer and I write fantasy and sci-fi. I decided to
learn Old Norse because I needed an ancient language
for a novel I'm writing and was too lazy to come up
with my own. So I decided to use Old Norse since I
have stuff about Norse mythology and runes and stuff
in the novel, so Old Norse works quite well. I'm on
the 4th lesson now. I'm going slow with the lessons
since there's only so many that are finished anyways
so there's no point in rushing and I like to let one
sink in before I go on to the next one.
I also wrote a story in Old Norse that's really short
and I posted it on a webpage. If you're interested,
the website is www.fanfiction.net and it's posted
under originals and fantasy I believe. Or you can
look in the directory of authors under Xanthe
Kelsylva, which is my pen name. And please don't
criticize the fact that it's like a 1st grade writing
level as far as Old Norse goes. I haven't gotten too
far past killing Olafr LOL. My friends thihk that
it's amusing that the only thing I know how to talk
about in Old Norse is elves and dwarves and killing
people and stuff like that. I also annoy poeple by
going around saying "Ek vega tik!" now. It just stuck
in my head when I translaed that one thing that was
like "I kill you! Now you die!" "You kill me! Now I
die! Ah! ah!" I'm so weird. I actually wrote "Ek
vega tik! Nu tu dey!" on the cover of one of my
notebooks for some unknown reason.
So now I have two ways of confusing people: writing in
runes and writing random phrases in Old Norse. Did I
mention that I write my novels in runes? It's to keep
nosey people from reading it and either stealing my
work or using what I write against me. I'm paranoid
like that (maybe that explains the threat on the coer
of the notebook).
Well, tell me what you think of my unsophisticated
story about the ring that i posted on fanfiction.net.
And when I publish a real novel, you can read that too.
