Actually, it can be (helped by the eq. of karnitou Gl; karite Lep; with -e\u vs -u\e). If the perf. root * dHedHoxY+ opt. > * dHedHexY+ (as in téthe:ka), either by an opt. change of o by xY or by analogy from the other forms (pres., imperf.), then in Celtic:

*
dHedHoxY+ dHedHexY+

dHedHoxYe dHedHexYe
dHedHo_e dHedHe_e
dHedHo:e dHedHe:e
dHedHo:e dHedHe
dHedHo: dHedHe
dHedHu: dHedHe

with no -w- needed since o: > u: in Celtic (there's no ev. for added -w- in dada:u anyway, since it's from * d*ed*oxW+ , when xW>w is common, and final -oxW might have developed opt. -oxw#V (or -oxW#x>xW>w if there were no(t many) words with V- at that stage) or final -o: might have developed opt. -o:#wV in sandhi anyway).
