Actually, I didn't see that (the only other explanation would probaby be a borrowing of ~ * pisaNgo > * pIstroNgU ). I did, however, see this:

The px > pHx is unusual in IE, so the solution wouldn't be immediately obvious. However, I'm studying an Indo-Iranian group which did have it, so it jumped out at me.

The pHt > ft > st is very, very, very, early. PIE had f which usually > s* in IE. Many IE created new f that also > s* (such as Greek py > ppy > pfy > pYfYy > pYsYy > ps/pt , etc.).
