French Calanque (shelter)
Try *kala "harbor, shelter", the root of French calanque. There are many others. PUF (Presse Univeritaire Française) has a little book on French Toponyms. I believe it mentions *kala. Portus-cale --Oporto, not Lisbon, is a tautology, if based on *kala.
