Ishinan : Jaan Puhvel once proposed a
derivation from PIE *h3erp- and comparison with Latin rapio 'to ravish, steal, rob' (1991: 182-183). Was
his suggestion accepted or rejected by fellow
Indo-Europeanists?
Thanks in advance for your responses.

Torsten : Did you leave something out? What word was
being derived and compared?
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Ishinan: Sorry Torsten, I missed to
say: with the Greek harpagmos, a word derived from harpazo, "to
ravish away," "carry off," "plunder".
