I post from the group web pages, which asume that what one enters is
in Windows-1252 and then tranmits it tagged as Latin-1, having
converted apparent curly quote marks to straight quotes. That is why
I recommended viewing the post in UTF-8, for I was confident the bit
patterns would not be corrupted. I assumed readers would be
acquainted with X-SAMPA or Kirshenbaum, and be capable of looking the
systems up in Wikipedia if need be.
