I suppose my point of view
will meet criticism.
I consider a root *k_w_H2 "to burn, to bake".
Which gives :
Celtic kwoH2-ta > potta (-tt- < H2-t) "pottery"
Latin kw°H2t- > kat- (as in kuHon > kan-is)
Oscan kwiH2t-a > pitta > pizza.
