<Troth> and <truth> are doublets, from OE <tréowþ, tríewþ>;
the ON cognate is <tryggð>, from *treuw-iþo:. The dental
suffix is the same one seen in <length>, <breadth>, <filth>,
etc., forming an abstract noun from an adjective. <Trúlofa>
is a compound of <trú(a)> 'trust, belief' and <lofa> 'to
praise; to promise'.
