I forgot to mention that some of this might tie in
with the weakening of final m in Latin (perhaps
pronounced like nasal w).

With the few examples of these changes, it's hard to
state the conditions perfectly but if analogy causes
u:vidus / u:midus it may be that:

w>m / o_b
w>m / u:_o

so *wegWof > *wowos > u:mor regularly, which can
contaminate u:vidus > u:midus.
