The similarity between Greek kentauros and Indo-Iranian *ganDarva (or GanDarva) is remarkable, but it doensnt fit in the usual phonetic correspondences for Greek and Indo-Iranian.

I propose a Mitanni way. Indo-Iranian *ganDarva would develop into Mitanni *kantar(u)wa. Kantarwa > Anatolian > *KantarFos, *KentarFos

There are another odd correspondeces in Greek and Indian mythological words, still unexplainede:
Kerberos = Karvara, S^arbara, Karbala (from Semitic krb "Mythical Guardian"? cf. Kerub, karibu, korybas, gryphos, gryps)
Kabeiros = Kubera, Kabera (from Semitic kabbirim ?)
