Just for the record, it definitely is *not* the case that
Kortlandt "derives just about everything prosodic in IE. incl. Danish
stød in one theory." What he really does is derive the so-
called "vestjysk stød" (and several other features in Germanic, most
strikingly the preglottalization of English voiceless consonants) from
the glottalic feature adherents of what is known as the "glottalic
theory" operate with.

This notion is usually regarded as too outlandish and obviously
incorrect as to deserve discussion. Scholars prefer to assume that
glottalization first disappeared and subsequently arose anew at a much
later stage. I am not aware of any discussion in which the greater
complexity of that scenario is justified or somehow made acceptable, so
I'm left with the nagging suspicion that it is the consequence of
prejudice.
