As far as I know, like country, like people, were called he
Lakedaimon, -onos; country was also called he Lakonike, besides to
Lakonikon, country and people. I think that -ia: is a compound
abstract suffix and I doubt that -ai is plural ending, until -ed could
be place and inhabitants ending, cf. Romanian and Albanian place
names: Arrnj-et, Buz-et, Frashnj-et, Qerr-et, Shkoz-et etc.
