If it occurs in the literature, it is not wrong. It's not in L&S - but it
is at Colossians 4:16. So it exists. It is of course a late formation -
but this is one reason for my question - how do you distinguish late
formations from inherited ones?

Of course. And this is the reason for my second question. Can you
distinguish -eus words of different origin? Or do you just assume they are
all the same, except for Zeus?
