What has it all got to do with "centum"? The PIE athematic stem was
*djeu- 'Sky-god' (cf. Skt. dyaus), and *dj regularly gives Greek <z>.
Lat. deus, di:vus, Baltic *deiwas, Skt. deva-, etc. reflect a derived
word, PIE *deiwos 'divine, celestialy' --> 'god, deity'.
