English meaning: stubborn; in a bad mood

German meaning: etwa `trotzig, finster gelaunt'

General comments: nur lat. und germ.

I think the root to look at is *drei-s-, listed under *der- (Pokorny 206):
Dutch trillen 'tremble' > *trislen.

Again, I believe treisti is *(s) + *der + *y + *s + *t + *y, virtually a
facsimile of *(s)tRs-tó: *dr(e)is-tó+y.

*der- is also seen in Egyptian d3, 'shake, tremble', and probably in
Sumerian dal, 'fly'.

The deepest basal meaning seems to be 'wave the arms excitedly'.
