Yes, according to Siebs' Law, *s + *der- > *ster-.

I think we all know that s-mobile compounds can occur without the initial
*s-, which retain the voiceless consonant produced from a voiced consonant.

*ster- > *ter-

I wonder if Brian would include Latin tristis as a derivation?
