What would be the most accurate analysis of Ares's declination?
 
Are:s, areos < * H2ere:s, H2eresos; or *H2ere:s, H2ereyos ?

Well, *h1er- would give Greek er-, so I don't think so.  Also, I don't
think _Are:s_ is a loanword, as it looks thoroughly Greek to me.

On another note, is there a suffix -vat in the Sanskrit word?
