*****GK: You are absolutely right. Thank you for the
advice, which I will profit from at some future
opportumity. Here, however, as I've just discovered
after implementing the change you mentioned, there
would have been another problem, due perhaps to the
fact that the scan cover could not perfectly adjust to
the size of the book being scanned. About one third of
the page would have been difficult to read (and even
two scans with pages reversed did not help much). When
I tried the "automatic choice" setting (as a third
option) the machine chose the heavy megabyte version
currently posted...C'est la vie.*****
