Hey, but with this <warowny> you arrive at... vár, várda, várad & város.

So, that PIE *wer must've been the "culprit", because of its multiple
meanings, even with reflexes in the realm of... hops & yeast (and
Bilsenkraut => Plzen). But, after all, it's a normal occurrence,
since... ">var<ietas delectat". :-))
