Egads... more questions?

I am also trying to determine the etymologies of the following Baltic
and Slavic diety: Veles -aka- Velinis

Since he is a God of the dead and the underworld, I am guessing that
it is related to Val, as in Valhalla.

In the AHDIER, I came across 'wele2' (the 2nd e should be inverted
but my character map won't do it) - 'to strike, wound'

does this seem correct? any further input?
