Sadly, nothing else is known of their functions or whether they may
simply be names for other Gods.
Odin, Villi, and Ve are 3 brothers who killed the hermaphroditic
proto-giant Ymir (the first being, name correlates to Yama and Yima
= 'twin') and from his body they fashioned the world.
Interestingly, Ymir has no twin - unless one considers his twin to
either be the proto-cow Audhumla; or the being Buri, whom the cow
licked out of/uncovered from the ice.
Furthermore, it is interesting that the ancient Germans said they
were the descendents of Tuisto (twin).
Some believe Villi and Ve *may* be other terms for Hoenir and Lodur,
the two other Gods who helped Odin give life to man and woman, but
there is no definitive evidence.
As to Buri, as mentioned above, he is the proto-god whom Audhumla
reveals. Buri's son is Bor. Bor is the father of Odin, Villi, and Ve.
As to Bolthor, he is believed to be Odin's uncle. Odin's mother was
Bestla, and Bolthor is believed to be her brother.
ANY help with the etymologies of these names is greatly appreciated!
