I guess that Alb. <zgjoj> 'to wake, to raise, to lift', <i
zgjuar> 'wise, clever' (cf. Slavic <buditi> 'to wake' and
<budan> 'waked, wise, clever') are just a sonorized variants of Alb.
<çoj> 'id.', <i squet> 'id.'. So, my opinion is that primary form
<çoj> is derived from prefixed lengthened zerof-grade form t-*ske:h1 -
enyo > tshqonj> çoj, that explains also infinitive <me çue>, from an
stressed /o/ closed by nasal and Tosk variant <zgjuar>.
