Hello, all:
How many of you have seen either of the Harry Potter movies? I was wondering if some of our British friends would comment on how many dialects are represented in either of those movies. I'm no expert, but I thought I heard at least six different dialects. Maybe this isn't all that exciting to others, but I thought it curious that some of the dialects seem to replace // with /f/. Also, at least one of the characters tends to glide /l/ into /w/, as in "bloody hellw". Are these common features in British English?
